I look to a man that is unsaved as a man who's soul has not been quickened from death by being reborn in his spirit. When a man is saved, born again, his soul that was dead because of sin is quickened by the quickening spirit Christ Jesus. It is no longer a dead soul, but a living soul, spirit in Christ.

If a man is not born again, his soul will be cast into hell. His body that sleeps in the earth will never be resurrected. That is why it is so important a man be born again. For if he is not reborn in his spirit, he will not be saved from eternal torment.

There is no such thing as eternal torment.
There is also no such thing as a living person with a dead soul.
The soul is defined either as the living being, the breath of life or the seat of emotions, all of us who are alive in body have all of these things so regaurdless of which you refer to when you say soul it is obovious that no one has a dead soul.

How can you look at the unsaved? Do you know who is and is not saved? Or are you talking about those who agree with your beliefs as being the saved and those who do not being the unsaved?

The bible clearly states that it is Gods will that all be saved. I don't know about you but I believe God will suceed in achiving what he wills. Jesus was sent to be the savior of the world and all things were given unto him and of that which he was given he should loose nothing. That means not one single soul. I believe that Jesus was/is up to the task and not one soul will be lost as even one would be unacceptable in the divine plan.

Sorry but the ET doctorines are wrong. God does not command us to love our enemies while he tortures our loved ones. He does not ask of us what he is not willing nor able to do. Quite the opposite.

Amen ! Soul Searcher !
From 1 Timothy 4

9 Faithful is the saying and worthy of all welcome
10 (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind,
11 especially of believers. These things be charging and teaching.

Have you ever noticed how main stream Christianity has wandered away from teaching this truth.... just as Paul fortells via the Holy spirit....

From 1 Timothy 4

1 Now the spirit is saying explicitly, that in subsequent eras some will be withdrawing from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and the teachings of demons,
2 in the hypocrisy of false expressions, their own conscience having been cauterized

The Doctrine of eternal torment....is a Doctrine of the Demon....designed to scare people who do not trust in God...into the Doctrine of Man has Free Will.... to make a wise choice to save himself....when scripture plainly tells us that nobody should boast before God....that it is by ..his... doing we are in Christ Jesus.... we had no say about being here in the first place....and sure we are Free to go here and go there....but scripture actualy tells us that one day every knee shall bow and swear allegiance to God....

So much for free will....yet mainstream Christianity today still persists in teaching against the word of God !

It certainly gave me new insight as to who really is on that broad path to destruction.....mainly because I know that destruction is eonion...and not eternal....

Peace

Prior to Jesus coming and dying for all mankind, all those who died were held in death.
When Adam sinned, he sold the souls of all mankind unto death. So all who died were taken to one of two places in hell and death. The upper part of hell known as the bosom of Abraham where the righteous dead were held. The lower part of hell which was and is a place of torment to the unrighteous where they are reserved until the day of judgment.

Because no man could live a life without sin, all men were held in the place known as death and hell. That is why God sent his Son. Jesus came and lived a life without sin and when he was put to death, because he was innocent of death, death could not hold him and he was worthy of resurrection.
Yet, by Jesus dying, he died for all mankind, so that all who believe in him would not be sent to that place known as hell and death.
The interesting part is that by the sin of one man, death was brought to all mankind. And by the death of one innocent man, life was bought for all mankind.
Jesus said, " He who believes in me will never die. "
And he spoke truth. For though a man dies in his flesh, his soul does not die, does not get cast into that place known as hell and death.
Jesus said, " He who believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."
He indeed spoke truth. For though a man dies in the flesh, his souls lives in Christ and goes to be with Christ in paradise.

Now, all the righteous dead prior to Jesus' resurrection could not assend into heaven til after Jesus defeated death.
And it is written that by the heart, a man comes unto righteousness, and by confession unto salvation.
Those who were righteous and were still held in death were set free when Jesus went and preached to them in death and hell. They were already righteous in their hearts. That is why they were in the upper part of hell known as the bosom of Abraham. Yet, they could not make confession unto salvation until Jesus defeated death and came and preached to them.
Now, when a man dies in Christ, his body sleeps in the earth awaiting to be resurrected on the day of resurrection. The soul goes with Christ. And on the day of resurrection, the souls of those who died in Christ come with him and will be reunited with their bodies that have been resurrected, changed from mortal, to immortal.

Hello Hiswordismysword,

What you said sounds like what I was told as a child. I am currently in the early stages of studying scripture to discern the truth of these things.

These are the questions that come to mind based on my studies thus far:

Genesis 2 gives me the impression that it was a two part creation. God formed the clay then breathed in life to form a living soul. Living soul I interpreted to mean a living person, not a separate soul entity. Is that a wrong interpretation?

Also from scripture [I don't recall the verses] I gathered that when a person was dead they had no memory, couldn't do works and were considered as if asleep. Is that correct?

Doesn't it say somewhere in scripture that after Christ's resurrection and ascension that He is the only one in paradise from the beginning of the world? If so then where are these "souls" who are supposedly with Him in heaven?

From my carnal logical perspective I question, if after our bodies die there is a separate living soul which "goes to heaven" or "goes to hell" prior to the judgment as described in Revelations, what need is there to be a resurrection of all the dead per Revelations? I can't seem to grasp it so, why do you think we need to be resurrected if our souls are already experiencing eternal bliss or eternal torture?

Any help here is greatly appreciated.
