Hebrews 1:1-2 and the age to come...Not Genesis
God did not speak to us through His Son in the Old Testament, but rather, He spoke to us in different ways such as through angels and prophets but it wasn't through His Son. Listen.
Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.
God did not speak to us in times past through His Son, but rather, it wasn't until these last days that He is speaking to us through His Son. The reason for this is because the Son of God was not yet born. The whole Bible must be understood in light of this truth.
People have been misled to believe that Jesus was there in the Genesis creation because Hebrews 1:1-2 says God created the worlds through Jesus. The reason for this misunderstanding is found in the word, worlds. The word, worlds, is not referring to the Genesis creation, but rather, the new creation also referred to as, the world to come or the kingdom of God.
Remember, God's plan is to make a new creation through Jesus. This new creation is seen in the world to come, not this present world which had its beginning in Genesis. He confirms this a little further into the context when He plainly identifies the world He is referring to as, the world to come. Listen.
Hebrews 2:5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.
The word, world, is the same word, age. They both speak the promise of a future time that is to come called the kingdom of God and the new earth. The coming kingdom, in the earth made new, is very important to understand because it's the big picture in God's plan. Everything God is doing is done in light of His coming kingdom.
The age to come is spoken of all throughout the Bible. Listen.
Matthew 12:32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
