So the major name for the Hebrew God means “That which was, That which is, That which shall be.” It has three letters and one which repeats itself. I-H-V-H, or Y-H-V-H are the most common spellings.

This is remarkably similar to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That which was: the Father wherein the soul did come from
That which is: the son, the soul which is incarnate in flesh
That which shall be: the spirit, ascending to heaven after death.

I can't think of a better place on CF to be than right here in MJ. There is a lot of depth here. Virtually all the threads are worthwhile and some of them are absolutely awesome. Viz's thread on "Counting the Omer" is among the best I have read...

That first post seems to be a bit of a random collection of anything related to Kabbalah from video games to the medical field, etc.

There's a number of interesting threads in the MJ section already which detail the Jewish traditions of Kabbalah.

My recommendation is to stay away from anything secular, and study Torah for awhile before touching Kabbalah.

Are Rabbis in mainstream Judaism trained in much the same way today as they were in millennia past: graduating through several schools (I heard there were three schools in the First Century and that Hebrew language and Torah studies were part of the cirricula of the first school)? If so, where would Kabbalah study fit in to the picture???
