• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Greetings everyone ,

This is a brief and in part examination of the spiritual significance of the wondrous event recorded in the following passage .

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
<-----> John 9:1-7

According to this translation KJV , Jesus used " the ground " ( which on our planet is made up of earth ); and mixing it with his own " spittle " made " clay " - healing clay .

Here is the Greek word - From " Strong's "

G4081
πηλός
pēlos
pay-los'
Perhaps a primary word; clay: - clay.

Which immediately brings Genesis to mind -

...There went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
<-----> Genesis 2:6+7

So , the obvious conclusion is , that Jesus in bringing healing to this man , who was born blind , by using the same material from which we were created ( physically ) was signifying that He would use man to bring healing to man ... not any old man , but man which had become intimate with Him - as to be so close that Jesus' spittle would fall upon us !

Note the distinction - In Genesis a [ generic ] " mist from the earth...watered...the ground " - which equals ordinary man , or " Adam ".

H120
אדם
'âdâm
aw-dawm'
From H119; ruddy, that is, a human being (an individual or the species, mankind, etc.): - X another, + hypocrite, + common sort, X low, man (mean, of low degree), person.

But when Jesus made the clay which was used to bring healing to the man who was born blind - He used His own spit ! Making that clay a unique and Personal formation which had a measure of Christ's own essence .

Now , lets look at the Strong's regarding " spittle " .

G4427
πτύσμα
ptusma
ptoos'-mah
From G4429; saliva: - spittle.

Okay , now here we see the word saliva . Let's look further into saliva , because spit is made of saliva .

Well , it looks like we could spend several days on studying saliva - there's a lot to it ... but basically -

saliva (s-lv)

A clear, tasteless, odorless, slightly acid (pH 6.8) viscid fluid, consisting of the secretion from the parotid, sublingual, and submandibular salivary glands and the mucous glands of the oral cavity; its function is to keep the mucous membrane of the mouth moist, to lubricate the food during mastication, and, in a measure, to convert starch into maltose, the latter action being effected by a diastatic enzyme, ptyalin. Syn: spittle

In this short space of time , I couldn't find a conclusive etymology for saliva's origin and root meaning . But one older spelling " salive " is reminiscient of the words " say live " . But to move forward -

Saliva has some mucus , and mucus has protective properties being made up of inorganic salts . Inorganic - means not originating from plants, animals , or natural growth .

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 15:45-48

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
<-----> John 3:6+7

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. <-----> Romans 8:5

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
<-----> 1st John 4:5+6

Saliva also has enzymes which " break down starches into sugars " .

Main Entry: en·zyme
Pronunciation: 'en-"zIm
Function: noun
Etymology: German Enzym, from Middle Greek enzymos leavened, from Greek en- + zymE leaven -- more at JUICE
: any of numerous complex proteins that are produced by living cells and catalyze specific biochemical reactions at body temperatures

The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. <-----> Isaiah 38:19

There's more to saliva ... but suffice it to say that Christ's saliva can easily represent His Preserving / Protecting Essence being applied to our natural self , thereby enabling what is beyond the confines of the earthly nature.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
<-----> John 14:11-15 ( Words of Jesus to His followers - those who've been following close enough for His spittle to land on them !)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. <-----> John 8:51

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
<-----> Hebrews 11:5+6

Within the Strong's definition of the Greek word translated " faith " we find the words - " especially reliance upon Christ for salvation" .

Now the apex of Salvation is our Gracious Acceptance into God's Everlasting Kingdom of Righteousness , Peace , and Joy .

Yet , God's Care and Power to Manifest His Caring , is certainly not restricted to our final ascent , as is plainly evidenced by Jesus' life and testimony , along with those He empowered and does yet empower to carry on His Ministry .

Now , with so much potential being offered to us , isn't it a horribly wonderous thing that so many of us are seemingly content to accept the world's status quo methods for being helped with our healing and deliverance in every day matters ?

Yet , to avoid being honest about how little we actually believe , and how truly far away we are from the Real Saviour , we continue to rationalize how that the world of physical causation is still the one we heavily rely upon in our times of need .

Indeed , if Satan is behind anything it's posing and posturing in an effort to make things appear as they are not , whether to diminish or embellish what is true.

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. <-----> Job 32:8

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. <-----> Zechariah 4:6

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. <-----> John 4:24

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. <-----> John 6:63

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
<-----> Romans 8:13+14

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. <-----> Romans 8:26

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
<-----> 1st Corinthians 2:4+5

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. <-----> 1st Corinthians 2:12

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. <-----> 1st Corinthians 2:14

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. <-----> 1st Corinthians 6:17

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. <-----> 1st Corinthians 12:4

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. <-----> 1st Corinthians 12:7

[ And ] if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
<-----> 2nd Corinthians 3:7-11

Quench not the Spirit. <-----> 1st Thessalonians 5:19

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. <-----> 2nd Timothy 1:7

Dear Lord Jesus ,

May your put a fire in our hearts which will stir us to call upon You to pour out your Spirit upon us as in the days of old , so that the world may see and glorify your Holy Name , being convinced of the Great Provision wherein You have made it possible for us to partake , by Atoning for our sins through the laying down of your own life , so that we could be Reconciled to God , and have free Access to The Throne of His Grace . Amen .

Hope everyone can enjoy and be edified by this little study .

And May The Lord Be Magnified !
