I found a thread that was studing the New Testament, and likewise, i will lead this Old Testament study, verse by verse!!! Come along and pitch in and help others learn the significance of the Old Testament!!!

Genesis 1:1- In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.

Genesis 1:2- Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Genesis 1:3-5 (3)And GOD said, "Let there be light." and there was light.(4) God saw that teh light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.(5) GOD called the light "day", and the darkness he called "night" and there was evening, and three was morning, the first day.

Genesis 1: 6-8 And GOD said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." (7) So GOD made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.(8) GOD called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning- the second day.

And God said, "let the waters beneath the sky be gathered into one place so dry ground may appear." And it was so.

How great is our God...Who "speaks"...and it is so.

Genesis 1:10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas". And GOD saw that is was good.

1:11-13- THen GOD said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.(12) The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it accordint to their kinds. And GOD saw it was good.(13) ANd there was evening, and there was morning-The third day

Genesis 1:14

And God said, "let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to seperate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,

God likes order a purpose...He also has a plan for His creation...

I also like having and knowing a God Who...SPEAKS...He wants to communicate with us even thru His creation.

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Psalm 19:1

Genesis 1:15-"and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so.

Genesis 1:16-19- GOD made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.(17) GOD set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth (18) To govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. and GOD saw that it was good. (19)And there was evening, and there was morning- The fourth day.

HE made all everything, cant everyone see that the world is too perfect for just random happenings???

Genesis 1:20

Then God said, "let the waters teem with swarms of living crearures, and let the birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens."

It takes "faith" to understand God as THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS:

By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. Heb. 11:3

lol welcome ade32, to this thread going thur the Old Testament, and i agree with you bout the begats and so and so.. i think i will for the most part do that myself, just to keep everyone intersested, unless there is some significancant person.. then well stop and look then move on.. sound cool?

I had read that this is one portion of scripture that undoes the evolution theory that man descended from apes. It is said here...each creature increased, produced...according to their kind. They produced the same species as they were "of" (bad grammar...but hopefully you can get what I mean).

I agree 100% Angel, speaking of evolution, i had a debate today with my Best friend, Tony, an atheist(just like i was at one time). by the end of the dabate, the entire lunchroom was quite and i caught some people taking notes!!!!

Genesis 1:25God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And it was so.
