Without free will, we are just robots.a god who allows "free will" is a monster...it's the same as saying you'd let your child run, knowing they will be killed, out into a busy street without lifting a finger to stop them just for the sake of saying "they must freely choose." 1 Cor 13 though says that Love (ie: God) always protects...and thankfully that's the God we worshipGod ALWAYS protects His children.
I think it will be both. It is my opinion that those whose hearts are hardened are those who refuse to accept that they are sinners, that they need a savior, and that Jesus Christ is that Savior. It is also those who refuse to believe that there is a GOD despite indisputable proof that HE is here. Scripture states that there is no excuse for not knowing that GOD exist. Atheists, etc, who firmly reject Christ will be hardened and will no longer receive the call to faith. Those are the ones described in Revelation as cursing GOD even while what has been foretold is occurring around them and they are experiencing all the torture and torment and destruction as revealed to the entire world.Do those who reject the free gift believe that it is indeed a free gift, but just don't want it? Or do they not not believe the gospel at all?
Without free will, we are just robots.
You have a twisted sense of Free Will. It is the simply the ability for us to make choices. Adam mad the choice for us that we are all sinners because he chose to disobey God. The Bible talks about "whomsoever will may come". This is why people reject God because they choose to. God doesn't force people to believe him, because he wants us to love him by our choice, otherwise we really don't love him if we are forced to.a god who allows "free will" is a monster...it's the same as saying you'd let your child run, knowing they will be killed, out into a busy street without lifting a finger to stop them just for the sake of saying "they must freely choose." 1 Cor 13 though says that Love (ie: God) always protects...and thankfully that's the God we worshipGod ALWAYS protects His children.

Can people, by their own free will, choose to believe something they think is false?
No. I have had periods where I was out of fellowship with GOD, but I have never believed that HE never exists. Even in my times of rebellion, I always came to the Father to get me out of whatever trouble I was in.So did you ever have a hard heart?
Of course, but I think that would be hard to do. That is not how faith works, if that is what you mean. You can't have faith in the finished Work of Jesus Christ if you think it is false. Can people, by their own free will, choose to believe something they think is false?
"For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of GOD" (Romans 3:23) and "but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:18-19) We can choose to not sin willfully, (like look at porn) but we all still sin because we all still have the sin nature within us. GOD has just chosen to apply our sin to our sin nature and not to our born again creation.Or even to further that point: Can someone simply choose not to sin?

DUH! Everyone is born saved. Up until the age of accountability, which is when the person has the capacity to understand what faith in Christ is and what sin is. That is determined by GOD. Do you believe that aborted babies go to hell because they did not make a decision to follow Christ? Do you believe that those who are so mentally impaired to understand what faith in Christ is go to hell? Your last 2 statements as just ignorant and smart alecky.I've never met someone who was born saved, fully justified by faith. I guess that would make you the first. And pretty darn special, too.
Of course. Everyone has to decide whether to believe something or not. Belief has to come out of ignorance or disbelief. With GOD, we are saved by faith. Heb 11:1 (NIV) says: "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."So someone who thought the gospel was false, and would have no reason to believe it, can just decide to believe it? That's what it looks like you are saying.

All believers sin. In 1 John 1:8-10 John wrote that if we say we have no sin, were liars, and in verse 9 he commands us to seek forgiveness when we sin so we can be purified from unrighteousness. As long as we do that, the Lord sees us as if we never sinned in the first place. This is how we appear to not continue to sin.How then do you reconcile this?
1 John 3:8-9
8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devils work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because Gods seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
1 John 5:18
18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.
You are just playing word games. That is not what I said. Go back and read it again. You have to repent (change your mind) about something being false in order to choose to believe it to be true, or even that there is a possibility for something to be true. Don't try and play with me. I don't play games about Christ. Perhaps you should put yourself to the Test?Okay, just to be sure, you can choose to believe something that you think is false, in your opinion.
Care to put that to the test?
