Let's start with this. They sound great. I like their sound and they ARE talented. But what good is Christian music when the performers don't live by the words they preach? What happens when a band wants the fame and glory so bad they use Christian music to get to the secular level.?? You get Hawk Nelson.

My Thoughts are NOT unfounded. Jun 18, 2005 Hawk Nelson played in San Bernardino, CA. I took this girl I met (and was interested in) to go see them because we both liked them. This girl and her family had once talked to them at an airport for about an hour before realizing who they were. The guys in the band call her and her family their "airpot buddies". They were on their way to nicaragua. If you see them in concert ASK THEM about their airport buddies. You'll see I'm not making this up. ANyway. After the concert was a baseball game. Inland Empire 66ers and and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Hawk Nelson, on stage asked if they could sit with us, because they knew the girl i took. I made it obvious that I was into this girl...she knew and they knew. Daniel and Jason were the only 2 original members. If you are fans you knew this already. Gideon, which I hear is no longer the "new" drummer constantly hit on my date through out the entire game. "If the kiss cam lands on us, will you kiss me." "I think you should marry me"...etc. After the game she told me was really uncomfortable and almost disgusted. Jason was a typical band member with an inflamed ego. He was no better. "Hey Jenny*not her real name*, do you sleep on your stomach." She said 'no'. Jason: "Oh, well then CAN I?" What kind of way is that to act. Not to mention Jason had been drinking. Daniel was a good guy, i liked him. I dont know the last guy but he was just like Jason. They ran onto the field after the game even though security told them to stop. They thought they were funny, no one was laughing. They'd yell moronic phrases at the other team. It was a disaster

Before this night, I really liked the band. And I still think they sound good, but the songs no longer have any meaning to me. I was more dissapointed than angry. One day these guys are gonna be found out and they're gonna end up flipping burgers. DC Talk...thers a real band. Break up because you were too famous. Or rich mullins who would leave his seat at award shows and help the staff clean kitchen. "I'm here to serve, not to be served" That's REAL CHRISTAIN music.

Ummm... I'm not sure that I believe you.

The wife of one of Jeremy Camp's road managers said on Jeremy's board that she knows the Hawk Nelson guys and that they are really nice and have good hearts. "I love hawk nelson, they are good friends of ours. they are awesome, musically and personally!" I'm a little more likely to believe her since I've actually met her.

I don't think that's true, I've heard way too many good things about them from all sorts of people who have met them and stuff... (i admit the guys are a little bit on the crazy, hyper side... but i am too, so i think it's cool) plus i've seen them live twice and they seemed really cool and nice and stuff, not the way you make them seem.

It's like I said...ask them about their "airport buddies" And for all those who have "heard" good things, decide for yourself. Be an individual. It's human nature to believe good things. I hung out with these guys for 2 AND A HALF hours. And yes I have seen them live in concert many times as well, and they were very nice and friendly and the seemed like cool people. Wouldn't you be too if you had hundreds of fans surrounding you? It's how they act when they think no one is watching. It's like I said, I loved their music too, it's just ashamed it turned out the way it did.

I doubt that's true, sounds like naught but gossip. I never really liked Hawk Nelson a whole whole lot anyway though.

I like your last statement though about "real bands." Those are the type of things that should define Christians. They are opportunities that should not be missed.

You're responding like the OP is reporting a rumor or something. The OP is about a personal experience, and you're calling him a liar. That's pretty sad.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever read. It's obvious that you can't handle having your "holier-than-thou" image of Hawk Nelson tarnished, so you write as if the fact that you "met" somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody that heard that somebody said something is more credible than a first-hand account. Gimme a break...

If it turned out to be true it's not like I'm going to cry. I'm not even that big of a fan of Hawk Nelson. I don't have a "holier-than-thou" image of HN either.

My point is that people like to spread rumors and you can't believe every little thing someone says about them. I'm more likely to believe someone I've actually met who is friends with them than I am to believe someone who randomly decides to post about the horrible things they did. If you were actually a member of the Jeremy Camp message boards and had talked to Jeremy's band members and their wives like I have you'd probably be more likely to believe them too. I can find any of them a lot more credible than someone I don't know on a message board posting something that could very well just be to ruin HN's reputation and to get some kicks.

Just because you so easily accept every story someone reports about the horrible things a band did, it doesn't mean the rest of us should do the same. There is the whole "innocent until proven guilty" rule in the courts and that could very well be applied here.

I saw their CD at the store today and they look like little kids. Of course they are going to have their moments that will make them look bad (we all do) especially when they are of an age when their bodies have more hormones than sense. I don't know the band, never even heard em, but I would like to think that they have more good days than bad ones.

As Christians, we fall down, we get up . . . we fall down, we get up . . .

Never said I accepted the OP as canon. I just thought your rebuttal was lame. :p And, what other "stories" have I accepted?

By the way, the word you were looking for is "accept", not "except", in this context. Those two words mean completely different things and are not interchangeable...

I realize that. I was in a rush when I typed that. Thank you.

I've no reason to be jealous, everyone likes her. But the fact the she was repulsed and dissilusioned after that disproves your "theory"

Now this is pretty insulting...Look, if you don't believe me. Fine. Deny truth up and down. I don't care. I was simply posting about something that happened to ME. As if I had nothing better to do than to defame this little poser band out of spite or boredom or for "kicks". I'd have nothing to gain. Honestly...

Well said. But for everyone else, my OP was not an attack...simply a first hand account. I suppose I need to be a little more forgiving. Sometime's I forget how important that virtue is. ThX for the reminder.

No problem, li'l brother.

You may have seen them at their worst; if you saw me at my worst, you wouldn't want to be around me either. And a little advice: don't keep dredging this up with your girlfriend; you'll be the bigger man (and you'll feel better for it) if you just forgive and forget. If she brings it up, just laugh.
