Have your religious beliefs ever conflicted with your gaming?

Happened upon this poll on GameFaqs.com and thoughts I'd ask the same here. So, here we go. Feel free to discuss, just no bashing and flaming for differing views.

So i had to vote for #2, although my gaming has never conflicted with my beliefs.

I have purchased a few games and could only play them a few min then uninstalled them. Due to language or demonic stuff or just out right being wrong.

Thats whats nice about consol gamers, they can rent a game to see what it is like, as there arnt always reviews out there that cover my opinions.

So thank the Lord for http://christian-gaming.com/news.php and thattechsite.com and yes, even your site flaymore flaymreviews.com they help me decide on what games to get.I just wish these i had known about these sites, or that they had been around a while ago. It would have saved my a couple hundred smakers.

The only two games I've refused to play on religious grounds were God of War and God of War II.

I couldn't contend with killing the gods, which doesn't make much sense because the gods themselves are deathless and cannot die.

I find myself unable to play Vampire the Masquerade games because of the whole Cainite aspect. I have Bloodlines installed right now but I don't play it even though it is incredibly engrossing and fun.

I know I probably shouldn't ask this, but: do you believe that the Greek/Roman gods are real? I mean, Bacchus/Dionysus is interesting and all... Yes, I do realize that you say you worship Athena... but really?

I promise I won't comment further whether you respond or not. I'm would just be amazed more than anything if you answer yes. Then I'd be curious on what grounds someone can claim their existence. Of course someone can say the same as the Christian-Judeo God. We reply with things like "evidence through fulfilled prophecy", "experience with miracles", "strong testimonies of the apostles and of Paul", "reliability of scripture" and so on. You can choose to agree or disagree with those claims, but they do exist. I'm not sure what claims for the reality of the Greco-Roman gods there is.


As far as this poll goes, I've never played a regular game that I've had a problem with. I can see how some people do and should avoid games like Doom, GTA, Manhunt, Leisure Suit Larry, etc., but they've never really phased me.

I really don't play too many games that have a lot of blood and guts in them except for Mortal Kombat. On Armagedon I actually mastered Scorpion because he was my fave character. I haven't played the game in a long time so I don't think I'm the master anymore. I
