  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you read the Left Behind books?

Yeah I was told about this series a while ago and I was going to get the first one, then I kinda forgot about it for awhile. Then when I was at a book store getting a studybible, I saw at least half of the series. So I bought the first one (Left Behind) and it was awesome. I couldn't put it down, I read it in four days, like almost 500 pages??. I'm kind of a slow reader and I work like 10 hours a day, so that's a feat for me (unlike some of you speed-readers out there). That one is the only one I have read so far, so you can guess which one my favorite is right now. I do plan to read on through the series. It's a lot of books though, eleven more I think. I do recommend at least the first one, 'twas a very good book--check it out. 'Left Behind' by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.

I read them except for the last two (I think). I realize that some folks sort of jumped in midway through the series but come on - my main complaint with the latter books is how they spent 1/3 to 1/2 of the book explaining the backstory. I found that somewhat lacking as it took far too long to get to the "meat and potatoes" of the new editions.

Just my 2 ducats.

Yes, my daughter in TN and I read them at the same time this spring, getting them 4 at a time from our libraries. She had nightmares and I had weird dreams,LOL,but we loved every one of them. Too hard to choose a favorite, possibly,The Remnant, because I was in awe of the story of Petra and what was going on outside.! The same with the characters, except I would lean towards Tsion Ben-Judah ,because of his closeness to God,being such a holy man.

read most of them, finally got tired of what I considered rather bad storytelling. When I first started reading them, I was a pre-trib rapture believer, but as time went on, my views on it changed and it got too hard to read them because I no longer believed in that theory, and besides, did I mention that the writing was mediocre at best?

I'd much rather read something by Dekker....his stuff isn't too bad
