  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you ever noticed this.

Is this why it's possible to prove anything with the bible, if you don't know it well.
2 Samuel chapter 14 verse 27
NIV Three sons and a daughter were born to Absalom. His daughter’s name was Tamar, and she became a beautiful woman.
KJV To Absalom were born three sons, and one daughter whose name was Tamar. She was a woman of beautiful appearance.
2 Samuel chapter 18 verse 18
NIV During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, “I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.
KJV Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself a pillar, which is in the king's dale: for he said, I have no son to keep my name in remembrance: and he called the pillar after his own name: and it is called unto this day, Absalom's place.

Funny how people think that they found something that has not been discovered by anyone in all the thousands of years that the bible has been read.
All of those statements can and are true, it all depends on what point in time they were made.

I don't agree with the premise that it's possible to prove anything with the Bible.
Some people say they don't sin.
Some people say it's all faith.
Some people say it's all love.
Some people say it's all grace.
And now I'm probably in a bunch of arguments that I'm not going to respond to.

The Bible doesn't provide proofs of anything.
Everything in scripture is taken on faith.

Did you mean to say impossible?
Did the Bible say how long Absalon's sons lived. They may have died at childbirth, in infancy, or as toddlers - most likely that's what happen.
Are you saying that the scripture you wrote was written in scripture after Absalom's death. Even if it was, it was a short narration of his life but .... the correct and entire scripture in all versions are written as followed in link provided and begin with words such as during Absalom's lifetime.

2 Samuel 18:18 During his lifetime, Absalom had set up for himself a pillar in the King's Valley, for he had said, "I have no son to preserve the memory of my name." So he gave the pillar his name, and to this day it is called Absalom's Monument.
If you do mean possible to prove - only through archaeological findings are things actually proven in the ways of man as acceptable proof as man say - evidence. Elsewise it's all about faith from The believer.

Which does not exclude the possibility that the sons born to him in 14:27 died in their youth and left him with no son to carry on the memory of his name.
