I seem to all the time through out my life. I'm certain I have a guardian angel.

When ever I have been in danger, near death.
Walking the wrong path.
Lost somewhere or something.
Bumping into the right person at the right time.

If I have, I am unaware of it. Which, biblically speaking, is probably how God wants it.

In Scripture, real encounters with angels are among the most rare things to have ever happened in God's dealings with the world. Only once does Scripture mention the possibility of encountering an angel, and that is when referring to showing hospitality to strangers who (for all we know) could be angels and we just aren't aware. It's not a promise that we will encounter angels, it is only a mention that if we did, we wouldn't know it--and the point is we should be showing hospitality toward strangers, it doesn't matter who they are.

Scripture, on the other hand, has several things about the dangers of deception. We are reminded that the devil would present himself as an angel of light; the wiles of the enemy are such that he would appear to us as light, in images of good--in order that we might be deceived. He's a liar, that's what he does: he lies.

If we think we see an angel, it is--biblically speaking--far more likely that it is a delusion of the evil one. No one should expect to meet angels, no one should expect visions of angels. Instead, we can be confident that real angels are invisible and serving God as He has so ordained them to serve, and that their ministry is invisible and unknowable to us--it's not our business to know what God has ordered His angels to do. But they are servants, as are we, and so the best thing we can do is not concern ourselves with speculations--but to remain confident in God's word, holding to faith in Christ, and abiding in God's word and Sacraments, and obeying His commandment to love.

The angels will do as they are commanded, ours is to do as we are commanded.

Let us not be deceived.

Basically, at the age of 23, I was struggling as so many young men do with the single life and with bouts of sin, with deep loneliness and depression sown into each waking day, all the while making a wage that barely kept my head above the poverty line. (Y'know, the usual story for most of us American men today.............. )

One day as I was reading Proverbs 18:22, I prayed and said something along the lines of, "Lord, please help me find a wife, a good woman who has faith in you and who will be able to love me." Being that I was at my wits from being left high and dry by the American dating scene, I unwisely disregarded my actual finances and, out of personal desperation, I added to that prayer "...Lord, I'm willing to go to the ends of the earth to find her if you'll just help me do it." Regardless of my situation, I began praying that prayer more than once, and I think I remember doing so a dozen times for months after that.

As it turned out over the course of a couple of years, I found a Christian woman who literally came from the other side of the planet. And I married her.

And were there angels involved in any of that? I have absolutely no idea. But at the time, it kind of felt like there were.

Ah, that's great, I reckon it was Jesus who heard you & at the right time he will always answer.

I have encountered an angel numerous times in my life! At least 10 times. The first time was about 20 years ago, I was in the CD duplication ministry at my church and I stayed late after the service to get some work done, everyone had left and I was there by myself. I was walking around in the sanctuary when a man in a white robe materialized, walked past me, and then de-materialized again!

Another time I was in the church gym with a friend and suddenly he said he saw a man in a white robe materialize and walk by us, I saw nothing but I felt electricity going through me and I also felt supernatural job well up inside me!

Also I think an angel spoke to me in a dream! I saw a young man in a robe in my dream, he spoke to me and said "Wake up, Dave." And I woke up. I had been working on a unit for my grad school course and I had only 1 day left to get it done, I was right down to the wire. I think the angel woke me up because I needed to get to work right away or I would run out of time! I think God might have sent an angel to help me pass my grad school course. He has been helping me alot, He really wants me to pass! I started working and I did not understand the unit, I had no idea how to do it, but suddenly ideas started popping into my head and I understand it now! A voice said, "You see? Easy." I am now able to finish my work, if I can pass this unit there is a good chance I will graduate from grad school! I had no idea how to do it, I would have failed for sure if God had not intervened!

Another testimony- years ago I decided to return to college to earn a Bachelor's degree (I already had earned an Associate's at Community College). I decided on Penn State Harrisburg in Harrisburg, PA. My first class was Calculus I. I was sitting there in class and the professor was talking and I did not have a clue as to what he was talking about, when I registered I thought I would be able to handle it but as I was sitting there in class I started thinking I had made a mistake. Suddenly I sensed the presence of an angel walking down the isle right next to me, I felt a hand tap me on the shoulder and suddenly I understood what the professor was doing! I am highly educated and I have had a long college career, this was not the first time I had had an encounter with an angel in class that helped me! I believe there may be angels assigned to almost all institutions of higher learning and they are there to help the students, even students that are not Christians! Another time years ago I decided to drive up to Cornell University and check the place out, I was interested in it. I drove up there and I was just walking around, I went inside the engineering building. I was there in the lobby when I saw several angels standing right there, instantly I sensed that they were there to help the students! A third time I believe I was in class at HACC (Harrisburg Area Community College) when I sensed an angel walking right next to me, however I understood the material the professor was teaching, suddenly a voice spoke and said that I did not need any help! I think the angel might have been helping all of the students!

Another time- I was on a prescription medication and I had accidentally ran out of it and I was extremely ill and ended up in the ER at the local hospital. I was sitting there in the waiting room at the ER and was deathly ill when suddenly I felt an invisible hand tap me on the shoulder, suddenly I felt much better, I was not completely healed but experienced alot of relief. I believe this was an angel that helped me out, it is my belief that there are angels hanging around in hospitals, they are there to help the patients, maybe even patients that are not Christians!

I think I might have posted this before. Years ago when I was still atheist, I was about to do something highly immoral when "somebody' suddenly appeared to my left.

I went down like a pole axed bull. Someone else said they thought I was dead.

He looked like me. I think he may have been my guardian angel protecting me from my own stupid action.

It's only happened once, but presumably "he" is still hanging around. I don't normally have any sense of a guardian angel's presence, although I suppose some of the "spiritual" experiences I've had might be due to his presence (and there's been a few).

When he appeared on that occasion I had this strange sense of something like a curtain being pulled aside. I've got a pet theory that space-time might be the barrier that prevents us from seeing the spiritual world but that's only my crank opinion.

It's based on that sense I had of a curtain being pulled aside.

If that was my guardian angle, he's only been visible once and it was over 40 years ago.

I became a Christian a year or two later.

If I have, I am unaware of it.

I did have at least one, but I refuse to discuss it. And there is no definite way of knowing whether or not it was a godly angel or the other kind, although I believe it was non-malicious since it did not say anything, and the experience did not negatively impact my faith.

In addition I once had an experience with what may have been ball lightning, but it was strange and frightening and haunted my nightmares for years afterwards, and that may alternatively have been something else, probably something of a more sinister nature.
