Have you completed any DNA ancestry tests?

Tell us more about it. I've never heard of it before!

One of these tests are available through ancestry . com. Just a small amount of a person's saliva is deposited in a tube, sealed and sent off for analysis. The analysis reveals what countries your DNA is from and what percentage of your DNA is from a given country. It's can also zero in on what region of a country your DNA originated from. It's pretty interesting.

Cool! I'll have to check it out.

I have always assumed that I am 1/4 full-blooded Welsh, 1/4 full-blooded Polish, and 1/2 full-blooded Ukrainian--but do I really know that?

I know my paternal grandmother had a Polish name, so her dad was Polish--but I really don't know about her mom. And I know that my Paternal grandfather and great-great grandfather were Welsh--but did a female of another nationality mix in?

And my grandparents--I assumed they were all Ukrainian: but when my real grandfather got drunk, climbed a tree, fell out, broke his back, and died, my grandmother remarried a Russian. Maybe there were other intermarriages farther back!

I'll have to look into it!

I really love Ancestry.com. They were invaluable for my genealogical searches!

My youngest daughter has been sending in samples from various branches of the family. Mine went in a couple of months ago and the first set of results came in yesterday.

The first one was X2c1b.

Will let you know when I find out what all that means.

Yep, I did mine. My results were more diverse than the immigration records would suggest. There was a lot of evidence of migration within Europe in the centuries before my ancestors came to the U.S.
