  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've had either three or four poems published in anthologies. I also won an essay contest about the Holocaust in 8th grade. I don't know if that was published or not.

I like to write stories more than I do poems so I'm currently working on a new story. I'm working on pretty much two stories at once right now, but one of them can't be published. So I'm making a new one. :)

Unfortunately I am aware of poetry.com's unfair profiting off an artist's work. I, however am not a victim of them, but am trying to acknowledge others of it's wicked scheme!

Yes, I just published my first book, a Christian inspirational book called, "Surrendered."

Before that, I had my testimony published in an international magazine, and I've had several letters to the editor published in a local newspaper. This month, my letter to the editor of Charisma was published.

I'm now working on my second book, another inspirational book, called, "Irons in the Fire."

I've had two full-length books of poetry and three pamphlets published, plus poems and reviews in many poetry magazines. I also teach creative writing and mentor poets through the British Council.

Nothing I write is aimed specifically at a Christian audience, and I can't say I think much of versified homilies and "devotional verse." I see myself as a poet and writer, and any spiritual themes that come through in my verse do so without my trying to force them.

I've written newspaper articles & presently write reviews & articles for a heathen web site.
My heathen cousin has gotten 2 books published, so I'm writing a meaty outline 4 her 2 pass on 2 her pub.
Lord willing soon I'll be swilling down cavair as I swim in my gold plated hot tub and scream at the kids' nannies to shut the lil' monsters up so I can listen to the salesman from the rolls royce store.

I've had a couple pieces of poetry published in a small Christian journal but that's about it (I don't count my mistakes from places such as poetry.com!) I haven't written much in quite some time. I'm somewhat of a reluctant writer. ;)

I have a whole portfolio of children's books that I am too afraid to send out. I sent one out to one publisher once and instead of a rejection I got a form letter which said send it to these subsidiaries of our company. That was enough to spook me. Still I am thinking about getting serious about it again.

I have had articles published in newsletters, and had three essays published in the school literary journal. Once I wrote a play that was performed at the school I worked at, but it was very small scale.

My dream is to get a book published and not tell my family but give everyone a signed book for Christmas. Then once my mother is revived we would all praise the Lord and go look for it at Barnes and Nobel....

Before sending to a publisher, try doing some research into publishers: publishers tend to specialise in certain areas (for instance, it would be silly to send a book on the history of pacifism to a publisher of books about military hardware...) Children's publishing is often quite specific with regard to age and genre: pre-school, educational, fiction, poetry, fact-based etc...

Also, do the same research of agents: again, agents will specialise in certain areas.

That way, although you will probably still get rejection letters (we all do, it's part of the game), you will have a better chance at success. An perseverance is the key: that, and continually honing your skills (if you can find a writing group or course to help, they can be useful too.)
