This could be a project for Lent. See if your parish priest or one of your parish organizations: KofC or Catholic Daughters is willing to have a small drive for used Bibles to give. It could be really easy, just have an anouncement made after Mass or put in the Bulletin and have a box set up by the door for people to put their extra Bibles in. CCD teachers could ask students if their family has an extra Bible they could donate.
Or if you like you can see if you can find some Catholic Bibles at the local Used Book Store and buy a couple to send.
Most people have more than one Bible, even if they don't read them. I know I had two Bibles before I started having a strong lasting interest to read them. Many people get them as gifts for special occasions; Baptisms, Confirmation, etc..and it would be great to extend that gift for people that don't have the money for a Bible.
