  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

is it wrong to hate?
Wrong? No idea.
It´s not becoming, it doesn´t feel good, it´s harming me, and it doesn´t help with the problems that it is a reaction to.
That´s all I can say from my experiences. As is not hard to tell, that makes the importance of the question whether it´s right or wrong fade away into insignificance, for me.

Well, fortunately there are very few persons who hate god. I do not know even only one.
However, if I were a believer in this God who hates those that hate him, this unfortunate anthropomorphic trait (helplessness in the face of frustration manifesting in negativity) of his sure would take quite a bit a bit away from my admiration for him.

I have hated in the past - usually someone who has broken my heart pretty badly, or lied or betrayed me. Honestly? Hatred needs far too much energy. You have to maintain the anger, can't process, grow through it, can't feel compassion because you will equate it with weakness and the person undeserving, don't feel better, continue to feel angry, bitter and miserable.

I found that it is far better to just let go, and move on. I had someone who hurt me pretty badly, and they came back, finally, and said, "Yeah, well, I know you are pretty angry. I treated you pretty badly. I know what you must think..." It was barely an apology. I said, "I don't think of you. Ever." And that was that.

I was at peace with it, forgave him, but moved on.

Hatred is far too consuming.

is it wrong to hate?

It is wrong to hate people. It is not wrong to hate liver for breakfast. If our lives are charactized by hating others, yes we are living our lives in a wrong and unwise way and the consequences of doing that are not good.

I don't think it's necessarily wrong. Hatred can sometimes be a powerful motivator for good, namely, to hate that which is unjust can sometimes inspire people to fight that injustice. It all depends on the circumstance I guess, generally I would consider it a negative though. Life's too short for hate.
