  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So I was watching S2E2 of Billions last night, and in the middle of a monologue one of the characters used the phrase "Hassan Chop!". It made me laugh, which drew a puzzled stare from the wife which lead to an explanation of the origin of "Hassan Chop".

So I was wondering if there were any other Billions fans out there that either did or did not get this pop culture reference.

I grew up on Looney Tunes, but didn't know that was called the Hassan Chop. Before cable TV became extremely corporatized, they used to air Looney Tunes on weekday evenings on TNT. Eventually everything started to merge and then they started banning more of the offensive shorts, then sticking shorts on a seldom cable package, and finally gone altogether. Oh, how I miss those days.

My grandfather would rent a video of Looney Tunes whenever he came over to babysit and we would watch them. To me, Looney Tunes has strong nostalgia value. I even read the thread title as it is said in the cartoon. Thanks for the reminder.
