So, I got a call from my mom today. There was a credit card application that came in the mail - not that strange. What was odd was that it was addressed to the main character in my novel.

Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Nope - I do use the name as my email address, but other than that we can't think of any other way they could have gotten that name

That is kind of amusing... something I would have some fun with.

I would say that they pulled your email address and assumed it was your real name, but I believe they're tied to your social. At least I was required to enter mine for the opt out registry last year.

What sunstruckdream said. This is the first indication that the MC is turning into her character. Stronger indications to follow. It would be a Jekyll and Hyde deal, where the MC doesn't want to be her character. Before long she wouldn't have much choice. Or you could go any way you want with it. It should definitely be a story, though. Too good not to be.

that's hilarious! - definitely the beginning of another story, my dear. and you should so prank call the credit card company, playing like you ARE the character from the book and stuff...and tell us how it goes!
