Perhaps I'm wrong, but I always thought the FSM was a demonstration of who has the burden-of-proof for a claim. Its a response to the "well, PROVE to me God doesnt exist" demand sometimes made by religionists. The atheist then responds "by the same token, PROVE to me the FSM doesnt exist".
By that burden of proof (prove the negative) almost any crazy claim (like FSM), has standing.
The FSM parody has never been an argument against a god.
