Just to add a case study
The school I just finished at last year (www.laa.edu.au) used to have quite a few boarding students and day students. afaik 40 years ago it was basically a boarding school. When I started their in year 7 their would have been about 40 - 50 boarding students and now there is only about 15. The school is now focussing on day students but still provides a boarding program.
My school was like a boarding school where Australian kids would sometimes go when their parents were international missionaries. I think that is a good reason for boarding schools. Also, I knew a few people who didn't have a good family life and enjoyed boarding and grew substantially socially and spiritually (and of course academically lol). So I think that in a few select circumstances, Adventist boardings schools can be great, but in general day schools would be preferred.
