Hmm. The horse accidents are so rare that when it happens, it's news.
Like anything else, people need to exercise good sense in where they take the animals. Those incapable of exercising good sense need to be told where they can drive their carriages. But one accident and we're going to ban the horses? Give me a break.

so since you are not from ny, they really are not as rare as one might think...but i really am not into debating.... actually stricker laws would have been better than a ban......

I am sorry if my post sounded harsh. I just remember so many beautiful scenes in movies of the carriages in Central Park. I think it would be sad to see the carriage rides come to an end. I would love one myself if I ever went there,but I do think something should be done about regulating WHERE they are alowed. I don't think accidents are a common occurence,however.

I am a horse lover and tend to agree with this. Horses should not be in a busy city where there are lots of noises and confusion for there beautiful animals. I do how ever agree with them pulling wagons in a city park Such as Stanley Park in Vancouver BC. Where these horses go no motor traffic is alowed to go. so it is safe for the horse and people.
