  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have never lost weight in the first trimester (I've always maintained my weight) but I've also never been sick or even had morning sickness with my two pregnancies. I have heard that it is quite common to lose weight in the first trimester because of morning sickness and unless it's an obscene amount it's not something to worry about. I think the bigger concern is becoming dehydrated. I wouldn't worry about losing 7lbs unless I was only 80 or 90 lbs to start with.

I lost about 5 lbs in my first trimester with my daughter, and gained 35 by the end - Katlyn was a beautifully healthy baby of 7 lbs 5oz.

With this pregnancy I gained 10 lbs in the first trimester and at only 26 weeks have already gained 25 lbs. I am anxious to see what this baby will weigh!! LOL

I was really sick with both pregnancies, both losing and gaining are completely normal - the important thing to remember is that every pregnancy, every body and every woman is different.

Congratulations by the way!! How far along are you?

I'm one who loses weight during pregnancy - I like to think I just redistribute :). I just lose my apetite and forcing myself to eat just makes me sick. I try to focus on eating small amounts of high quality food.

One of the areas where weight gain is noticed is when you lay down fat for breastfeeding (shoulders and arms). I don't do this, and basically have to eat to produce milk - I inhale my food in the first few weeks.

In the UK, midwives do not weigh you anymore because there is no clinical evidence that it has any value and does lead to stress. There are other clinical factors that determine your overall health.

I lost 3 pounds in the first trimester due to "morning" sickness. I have since gained 15 pounds and am 26 weeks. My midwife has been fine with my weight loss/gain throughout the pregnancy, so it hasn't bothered me. I just try to eat the right kinds of foods so I know my baby is getting what he/she needs.

There are some Good natural prenatals (powder in gelcaps) by TwinLabs that you take 3 times a day instead of a once a day hard tablet that's harder to digest. They're also easier on the stomach than a hard tablet. ;)

I'm down 7 to 8 depending on the day and I'm almost 10 weeks.

My dr's are not concerned, it's due to morning sickness. They keep telling me to keep pushing the water, because it's worse to be dehydrated when pregnant than anything else.

I'm comfortable with the weight loss as I've got on a few extra lbs anyway and I know this is not going to hurt the baby. I will start getting uncomfortable if I'm in my 2nd trimester and still loosing (and it's not for some reason like the flu). Even if I stay where I am I'll be okay, I just don't want to lose more after the 12th week.

Keep us updated.
