I absolutely love this game. Especially the old gameboy one, and the SNES one. The GBA one is good too, but it doesn't control as smoothly nor does it have quite the same feel to it.
I remember how exciting it was to wake up, eat your last dumpling, and hear a storm raging outside..

what is this..animal crossing?

I loved the day-to-day-ness of Harvest Moon..it made it fun..like..life, or something. like living.
Animal Crossing...oh, you must get it. Live in a town full of quirky animals, decorate your house, write letters, plant trees, dig up fossils and gyroids, build snowmen, go fishing, hunt for bugs, collect clothes, the fun just never ends! I know, it sounds silly, but it's quite addictive. If you don't have a Gamecube, Animal Crossing is a good reason to get one. I can't wait for Harvest Moon for Gamecube, either. :)

Harvest Moon is a decievingly addictive game. I used to play the SNES version a lot. Really, who would think something so simple would be so addictive? It seems like such a boring concept, and it's not like the game play was all that hard. But I couldn't stop playing it.

Hmm..I need to start a GC fund. If everyone on this board gave one dollar, I'd have one in no time! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

Until then, i'll be happy with SNES. I haven't played enough of the GBA to know if I like it. So far the controls are just a little bit sticky..

YAY!!!! I love HM for the Playstation. . .I guess you could call me addicted to it LOL. So far, I've played two diaries, had the farmer married to Elli in the first (where he was named Ikki and I don't even remember what his kid was named) and in the second, the diary I'm currently playing, I've seen a lot more of the Events, done a lot more things, and currently "Heero" is married to Ann and has a kid named Shuichi.

(oh, and a note for the shounen ai fangirls who play this game-you cannot have the farmer character marry Kai, no matter how much you want to *cries*-otherwise it would be tagged with a T rating and Mature Sexual Themes disclaimer-. . .however, you can have him attend the Fireworks Festival with Kai. . .and give him flowers. . .which Kai actually likes. Take from that what you will *winkwinks*)

I have almost all the recipes. . .yet I still have not found the use for the Orange Cup fruit. It can only be grown in the hothouse, yet anything I seem to cook with it becomes a "Food fiasco." What use is there for it?

I got HM FoMT the other day, and I haven't stoped playing it. (I'm taking a break right now... So I guess I have stopped playing... :p )
I'm trying to get a girl friend, (that sounds weird... ) I give her flowers and chocolates everyday, and she still has a black heart. (is that a bad thing? I'm new to Harvest Moon.) How do I get her to like me more?

(Sorry, I'm a little hyper right now) :D

You'd better believe a black heart is not a good thing. :) You want that heart to be red, which is a long way from black.

Each girl likes different things. Maybe this girl hates chocolates and flowers and loves wine or boiled eggs. You have to give the girl anywhere from 20-50 "love it" gifts (the type where she blushes and gets a really dreamy look, and usually says something like "Hee hee, but are you sure?" or "I love this! Thank you VERY much") to move the heart level up one level from where it is currently located. If that version is anything like the PSOne version, the levels will be as follows:

Black, purple, dark blue, light blue, green, yellow, orange, and finally red.

You want red, for that is the *ONLY* time your character can successfully propose. :)
