  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hare Krishnas

I was wondering if anyone had any experience witnessing to Hare Krishnas? I am at work and I took my morning strole to the post office & Starbucks and on the way back one of them offered to sell me a book on Eastern philosophy. Anyway, we had a short and pleasent discussion, and karma came up and I said "I do't believe in karma" he asked why and I said "I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ." He replied that Jesus talked about karma, saying "You reap what you sow." I tried to bring up some other things, like the cleansing power of Jesus' blood/His sacrifice on the cross for our sins, but in the end we parted company and he kept his book.

I did find reference in Galatians to "reaping what you sow" but it doesn't (to me) seem to be talking about Karma... because of the subsequent verses.

Long story short, they usually come to DC for a week or so (which means Monday or Tuesday) I'd like to talk with him again. Which is why I am looking for advice from anyone who's delt with these guys before.

Thanks

Derek
