Greetings.

In the Bible it does talk about God hardening hearts. I am not suggesting that this is what has happened with you, AEguy05. Do you think honestly in heart that you can change if you tried harder? How much effort have you really put into being a child of God? These are some of the questions you need to ask yourself. Don't spend just a moment and come up with a conclusion, but rather spend a few days and think about it. I am always available through pm if you would like someone to talk with or share with for what you are going through.

God Bless

AEguy05, one doesn't become perfect by accepting Jesus. I've been with Jesus for years now, and I'm still struggling in sin. I believe that if you are genuinely repentent of your sins, and if you try continually to do better, than he will forgive. Some days I feel like I can get by without God, and some days I can barely breathe except to praise Him.

Pray. Pray that He will give you strength to get through each day, and to make it to the next one. Pray that He will give you courage to stand in the wake of sin, and come through unscathed. Praying is our lifeline to God. It's our umbilical cord to Him. Don't ever sever it.

I'll pray for you. :)

I don't think God ever hardens anyone's heart towards believing in Him honey. He has left us with His truth, and His Word. Given us His Son, and the Sacrifice has been made through Jesus death. It is now left up to us to make a decision whether to believe or not. Whether to accept the truth or not.

How true, the verse about the God hardening the Pharoah's heart is incorrectly translated. People harden their own hearts (mind) toward God. God is a gentleman, He will not interfere in man's volition.

Ahhh yes, the hardened heart. I believe that we have all been there at one point in time or another and found it hard to ask "now what?". Then I look to King David, who was said to be a man after God's own heart (now that's devoted!), yet during his walk in the highest peak of his life, he "hardens his heart" by comitting many terrible sins. Covetness, adultry, murder and the like. But the point is after he had done this these and came to his senses, he repented, lamented, and really worked hard to get back what once was. I don't think he ever made it back to that point, but I believe God did forgive him. Just like today, none of us no matter how hard we try "loves God with all our heart, mind, soul" yet when we try, ask for forgiveness for the short coming, and try again tomorrow (even with more success) He rojoices because we did not give up and stayed the path. The hardening part I believe is meant for people who truly deny God, use His Holy name in vain, and the like. Remember God knows the heart better than anyone, and even He can break the "hardening" if He wants, He did for me.

Go in His peace. His arms are wide open for you to come to Him now with this burden on your heart.

Could it be that some where along the line all the sin you were doing just became the everyday stuff? If it all becomes habit and normal to you, you have hardened your own heart...and let me say that once you are saved, you are always saved. The Holy Spirit will never leave you, God will never forsake you as a lost cause. Like the father of the prodigal son, he will wait on the hill everyday for your return. He loves you, pray that your heart would be soft and you would be humbled (that's a scary prayer because being humbled by God can be very harsh and painful to our human selves) and pray that you would understand more of what God wants from you so that you might be able to live a life more for him.

It happens. Everyone goes through lulls now and then, and it's usually because God is moving our lives in a direction we don't understand, or there is something in us that we have unresolved between us and the Lord. Maybe an unfulfilled dream or we have questions about what is really good for us; we sometimes walk by sight rather than faith, and what we see is very different from what the Lord is telling us. Maybe a trial or tribulation has us confused. It happens to everyone at some point, and this just happens to be the time you're going through it. If you ask the Lord to show you why you feel the way you do, He can do that and help you find ways to resolve it. But in this you can rest: He's in control. Prayer and belief are answered, even if you don't see it at first. I will pray for you as well.

Blessings,
Whitehorse

P.S. I almost forgot to add: I often find a direct connection between zeal and how much time I've spent alone with the Lord daily. Try this, even if it's hard: read five chapters of the Bible each night. Spend an hour in prayer in the morning or at lunch, and one at night. The things to pray about are endless. The government. The moral state of the union. Friends and family. Problems and hard situations. You might like to read some godly literature like Matthew Henry each night. Or maybe Charity and its Fruits by Jonathan Edwards-it's a favorite of mine and I'm reading it right now. You'll feel your zeal returning-guaranteed. You won't regret it.

God doesn't harden your heart, he allows it to harden. If you had been turned over to a reprobate mind (see Romans 1:28) you have no since of Judgement and would not feel this way about needing to serve God better.
Here is a fool proof test to decide whether your heart has hardened or if you have blasphemed the Holy Ghost.
DO YOU CARE?
If so, you haven't

God does harden hearts...

And the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses. (Ex. 9:12)

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may perform these signs of Mine among them (Ex 10:1)

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go. (Ex 10:20)

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was not willing to let them go. (ex. 10:27)

And there are many many more verses to back this up.

Now, as far as you AE, I don't know. Sometimes I have seen people whose hearts weren't hardned but rather they just didn't car.

We are in the Dispnsation of Grace. Pharoah was not.

Mm. Dispensationalism. God still hardens hearts, but He also rewards those who diligently seek Him. Romans 9, I think. He is always sovereign. But, that doesn't mean that is the situation here. All Christians go through dry spells-it's part of our growth. It's part of the process.

I agree god dosent harden our hearts we do that ourselves. We do that by if say you continue to do the same sin and not repent of it even though you are being convicted of it,sooner or later you will stop getting that conviction and will not repent of it because nothing is there to tell you it is wrong. So you will continue to do that sin without conviction.

To say that caring and hardening of hearts is equal is wrong.

I don't care what other people think of me, but that doesn't mean my heart is hardened towards them. My heart is apathetic towards the thoughts of other concerning me. Apathy and a hardened heart are different things.

I did not explain myself properly. By caring I mean, do you care about the fact that your heart may be hardened. Not caring does not cause a hardened heart. Not caring about your current relationship with God is the result of a hardened heart. Any oppositition we have about each other's opinion, I think is caused by differences of opinion of what a hardened heart is. IMO a hardened heart is a heart that doesn't care about lacking of a better relationship with God (on our part).
