man... this is awesome. i just have to say this becuase ive never seen it before.
ya know most people dont want preachers or people to be controversial and dont want people to tell them things that will make them angry but thats not how Jesus was.
in mark 1.22 the bible says the people were ASTONISHED at Jesus words becuase he spoke as one having authority.
but we dont understand what that word astonished really means.
it is EKPLESSO in the greek.
and it means astonished or amased...but thats not all.
becuase it comes from 2 greek words, its a compound word.
it comes from EK + PLESSO.
and get this, this is what messed me up.
EK = to come from, out to come out of a place.
PLESSO = to pound, or to flatten, or to smite.
or, TO COME FROM POUNDING. it means youve just been smitten.
so, i could have my greek wrong, but it seems to me that it means to be astonished or amased because youve just been smitten or pounded.
and people dont like that, but like Jesus, we dont need to enjoy hurting people, but we have to be bold enough to stand up for the truth and boldly declare the word of God in the churchs and everywhere THAT WE HAVE AUTHORITY even if it smites someone, even if it seems to be pounding someone, even when people get angry or amased that we think we have the right to say such things to them.
and it said Jesus had AUTHORITY and that literally means delegated authority or jurisdiction like over an area.
it was like God had given him authority to say what he was saying, and like he had jurisdiction to stand and speak on the earth or in that temple, like policemen have jurisdiction to enforce the law in a certain area.
pastors, leaders, sunday school teachers have jurisdiction in their areas of authority, the classes and churchs they speak in, to say things that literally smite us and pound at us even if it makes us angry or hurts our feelings, because Gods word is what needs to be honored and declared and its for our good.
my God... we dont like the prophets and prophetess' who stand and boldly declare to us that we are in sin and rebellion, but we need it and God has given them the mandate and the authority to say such things to us, hes given them delegated authority and jurisdiction.
man... this word smote me. my sunday school teacher and my pastor, has the authority to rebuke, offend me, be controversial, when he's preaching the truth... that will save my soul.
i guess thats why we have to receive the word WITH MEEKNESS.
because they have the authority and jurisdiction to say such things, and because its just the truth.
i remember a pastor, who said people dont like him coming to their churches anymore..because he preaches about souls and hell.
they just want to be encouraged, they just want to be helped, they just want to edified, they just want to be comforted... but he said "you must think im a fool! that i would neglect the mandate from God on my life to stand and boldly preach the truth!" they dont like him because his words smite them, they pound them....
but man, the bible says "faithful are the wounds of a brother"
you can really trust a brother in Christ, when he loves you enough, and honors God enough to wound you, becuase you aint living right and your on your way to hell or your displeasing to God, or you will mess yourself up doing what your doing.
man, well go get rebuked today, haha. it does the body good!
Godbless you.
