Hi Jason,

I think the best thing to do if you want to please God is do your best to follow the teachings of Jesus. Jesus called on us to leave everything and follow him, and live by faith. There is so much we can do for God if we just let go of all that we hold onto.

Read the sermon on the mount and just start trying to practice the things Jesus commands his disciples to do etc.

People often think that working for God full time means being a preacher or a pastor in the church, but one can simply find other Christians and live communially like the early church, sharing all things in common. Perhaps you could make your own tracts promoting the teachings of Jesus and use them as a witness tool? Something I have found is that most people, even atheists are familiar with John 3:16 etc, but even Christians struggle with naming 10 or 20 things Jesus actually commands christians to do, so maybe your tract could focus on what he taught about how to change our lives and live according to God's principles?

Anyway, these are just some thoughts. Life is short, and really to work for God is what we are here for, but most people prefer working for money, and God gets the left overs. I pray that you'll be able to counter this depressing trend in these dark of darkest days.

Peace, Ciel

We all have a ministry - whether it is big or small. It does not have to be behind a pulpit, but just in your every day life. Just keep your hand in the hand of Jesus and let the Holy Spirit lead you - you don't have to go looking for a ministry - what God calls you to do, He will equip you for. Just move in the leading of the Holy Spirit and God will take care of the rest of it.

My question would be where does Jesus teach anything BUT full-time ministry? Obviously people differentiate between full-time ministry and (I guess what would be called) part time ministry e.g. serving coffee in Starbucks. But, I don't see that in Jesus' teachings. In fact he goes so far as to say that no one can serve two masters, he will love one and hate the other, hold to one and despise the other, that we can't serve both God and money.

Jason, I would strongly urge you to follow the example of Jesus and his disciples. Live by faith in God, and give Him ALL of your time. Don't prostitute your life just to get the things (food/clothes) God already promises to give to those who would seek to serve Him and Him alone. This really is the only path to peace; to the follow the way, the truth and the life. Just obey Jesus dude!
