  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I absolutely love this vid! So cute!

Chag Sameach everyone!
I had to stay home from school today, so I guess I'll get hopping on that Matzah again, in hopes I don't add too much salt this time (like last night --- oopsala!!!). I finally found the correct consistancy and grains!

I have been contemplating this topic, and hesitant to post for fear it might offend. But what the heck, I'll just remove it if it does like I always do. :sigh: :D

Anyway, long before the Romanish types invented Christ-mass (in fact, long before Christ came into the world) the Jews celebrated a kind of forerunner to Christmas in the Passover feast / week. There really is not an exchange of gifts per se (though there is a reward for finding the afikhomen). The first Passover did precipitate the Egyptians giving gifts lavishly to the freed slaves... some say ransom, some say back wages, I say gifts... a prophetic foretelling of the greatest gift to man: the Messiah and his redemption as our go'el / kinsman redeemer.

And for those who find the whole thing about Pesach a dreary event to endure**, their spiritual dip stick reads low on Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), or they just don't realize it's Jewish Christmas and it's time to celebrate the greatest gift of all.

** sad but true, I have known chavarim / mishpocha who considered it just a thing that will pass and they will be happy when it's over...
