January 1, 2017 is indeed a new year based on the traditions of men, but it is not the beginning of the true new year according to our Creator's calendar.
The first month of the new year occurs at the time of Passover. The next new year will most likely begin at sundown on March 28, 2017 with Passover starting at sundown on April 10. The true new year does not begin in the dead of winter. It begins in the spring when new life begins to bud. It also does not begin in the dead of night at 12:00 midnight, but at sundown. All Biblical days begin and end at sundown.
Our Creator, Almighty Yahweh, created the heavenly bodies and set them in motion to determine the first day/month of the year. All of Yahweh's annual Holy Days throughout the year are based on the first day of that new year. All man-made holidays are based on their man-made new year of January 1. Whose calendar will you follow, your Creator's and His days or man's and his days?
Exodus 12:1-2 - And Yahweh spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exodus 12:3 - Speak you unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exodus 12:6-7 - And you shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Exodus 12:11 - And thus shall you eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is Yahweh's Passover.
Exodus 12:3 - Speak you unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
