  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Happy Easter!

Do we get to choose what days we celebrate to honor God, or does Scripture decide that for us?

Scripture tells us when and how. I honor Him every day, but not through pagan holidays.

If scripture is silent about the exact date, there's a reason for it. If Christ really wanted us to celebrate His birth on a certain day, I know He would've given us the exact date.

Instead, scripture tells us to celebrate His birth, death, and resurrection through baptism.

Does not even EGW say that Christmas is a blessing if taken in the right spirit? And who knows Jesus might have risen in the spring.

Christmas is a wonderful time to witness. People that don't think about Christ the other 364 days a year tend to do so on that day, and there's never a BAD time to receive/give a blessing. People are definitely more open to witnessing on Easter and Christmas...but it's also a GREAT time to point out that both were pagan holidays...given a Christian twist. Baptized paganism.

Most people I know are fed up with "organized religion" and if you let them know that you are too, and why, it's a great ice breaker.

It's like Noah and the ark. How many churches teach that he took only 2 of each animal with no mention of clean/unclean animals?

When you tell people there's a lot they AREN'T being told, they'll stick their own nose in the Bible, and that's a life-changing event that only they can initiate! Amen?

Quite the interesting coinky dinky happened tonight in my speech class....

We had to separate into groups of three and start working on our group Informative Speeches that are coming up.

My group got "Historical" as our type of Informative Speech, and I was so disappointed.

Anyway, we had to choose from topics that other classmates had come up with.

I was so happy when my teammates chose "Pagan Holidays Adopted By Christianity"!!

One of them is not a Christian and the other one never did say (he has long pink hair....a total rebel), but they both were fascinated with some of the stuff I told them.

This should be interesting!

Hi Lainie,

I just posted an article titled Bapitzed Pagasnisim in your thread Pagan Holidays that I think may be of help in preparing your speech for your speach class. Naturally it's out of numirical sequence. Hope you read it before you need to make your speech. Good luck.
