  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just one day to go...cant wait.:)

Thank you. Actually, I missed my campus' Diwali celebration, since the church harvest party was at the same time. But I wouldn't have gone anyway, since they did a bad job this year (they charged too much, and I'm told the food was horrible).

Oh well, maybe someone else will do Diwali this week.

Diwali is the Indian festival of lights. It's usually celebrated by adorning one's house and other places with lights. There are also many Indian dances. Some people mix Hindu paganism with the festivities, but fortunately the Indians at my university do not.

Diwali is a festival of lights which is celebrated as a day when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya after 14 years. It is also the day when evil Naraksura was killed by Lord Krishna. Diwali is celebrated for Five days. Actual (main) Diwali day is third day (Nov 1, this year). Diwali is celebrated by Hindus , Sikhs and Janis.

Actually, those of us Christians who happen to be Indians also celebrate Diwali. We just exclude all of the pagan beliefs.

Arunma that was a  reply, atleast leave such threads from your ex-hindu attitude. The fortunately Hindu paganism thing in your reply was so . That question was directed to those who celebrate Diwali.
How will you like if some ex-christian come to some Christmas thread and reply although i am not Christian nor i believe in Christian stories, still i celebrate Christmas by extra sex on that Christmas night.

Actually, no question was asked. And even if the thread was directed at people who celebrate Diwali, I do celebrate Diwali. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Diwali is an Indian holiday, and I'm going to celebrate it whether or not you approve.

Precisely what does Diwali have to do with being a so-called "ex-Hindu?"

Thats ok. Many Hindus i know also celebrate Christmas although they don't believe in Christianity. But including such comments like Hindu paganism and fortunately kind of thing in a Diwali thread is very  . Non-Christians in Christmas forum will also look  like you if they insult Christianity and then say we celebrate Christmas.

You can also wish them Happy Diwali without adding such comments which insults there religion. You can also add your experience without insulting Hinduism. Atleast learn to leave such anti-hindu attitude in Such peaceful and loving threads.

Fair enough. I suppose I should point out that you'll be punished for blasphemy, but I surely wouldn't celebrate a holiday with pagan Hindu roots and then deny your right to do this. Besides that, if you exclude Jesus, you're not really celebrating Christmas anymore, but rather some commercialized celebration of captialism.

Yeah fair enough...If you exclude Hindu , Sikh or Janis beliefs you are not celebrating Diwali in real sense. That was also the point of Ander_cool.

Although no Hindu will stop any non-Hindu , anyone can celebrate Diwali in any way they want. :)

Does that have something to do with haloween being on Oct 31?
