  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all

I just like to know from do catholics still agree with the theologian Hans King?

He is mentioned of as a catholic theologian, but I think I'll just make sure :)

And if you do do you think it's worth reading his work?
(I have a book on him at home)

And then do anybody know of a GOOD web-site on St. Augustine? (spelling?)

Thanks for you help.

I believe you mean Hans Kung.

Yes, he is a Catholic theologian. But he does have some beliefs that are at odds with what the Church teaches. He may be owrth reading but keeping in mind he is a theologien and can not be relied upon to faithfully represent what the Church preaches, theaches and confesses.

His position is uncertain. He remains a "Catholic", but is regarded as a dissident who cannot speak for the Church.

In 1979 Kung was stripped of his right to teach as a Roman Catholic theologian, and has been banned from teaching as a Catholic theologian at Tubingen University because of his outspoken rejection of papal primacy and other key Catholic teachings as well as his support for Abortion.

He is often however, quoted as a "Catholic Theologian" by non-Catholics.

Good Day, Heinrich

I would not shy away from reading his stuff he has written mostly about Theology and not so much about the RC faith and morals. From the world of Christain Teologians{sp} he is a little out of the main stream from what I understand. I know a lot of RCC lay people who read and love his work. Some times reading things you may not agree with is a great leaning exersize.

My 2 cents,

BBAS
