  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just recently saw this movie adaptation of Frank Peretti's thriller "Hangman's Curse", and to be honest, I was expecting a shoddy Christian film. Boy was I wrong. The acting might not be top notch, but it certainly is more than enough to bolster an amazing plot that differs only slightly from the actual book.

I enjoyed this movie more than a lot of the movies I've seen in theaters. Definitely a must-see.

What's even better is that we picked it up at Wal-Mart for only $9.88.

The movie isn't as good as the book

Did you notice that they ;eft almost all of the Christian themes in the movie. Yeah they prayed, at the end though..... i was suprised at how much of the prayer they left out

another thing i didn't like is how the goth kids weren't 'goth' at the end of the movie. I don't elieve that a) they could change that quick and b) that being christian means they can't be goth

I really enjoyed this movie as well. Like you, I was expecting "another" christian attempt at a film. It turned out to be really good, and had many aspects that I look for in a movie. I was very happy when this came out, and I know that a lot of my friends really like this movie as well. The only part that I didn't like is the fact that the goth students turned preppy or whatever aat the end. I was so bummed out about that! I mean, sure they wouldn't want to wear all black after they came to know Christ, but they still could've dressed cool with like the rad big black pants and the whole style they had going on. But yeah, it's all good.

Truth be told, I saw "Hangman's Curse" in a christian bookstore, and I was slightly intrigued, then I turned it over and saw on the back that it was rated, and I got really happy! It's dumb, I know, but "chrstian films are never rated, so if one is (regardless of what the rating is) it's almost an immediate sign that it's going to be different/better than most others. Funny, huh? :p

I haven't read the book yet, but I want to after seeing the movie. I kind of hope that they make the second book into a movie as well, only if they continue with the good movie-making (if not better!) that they displayed in the first.

If you haven't read Hangman's Curse, or Nightmare Academy by Frank Peretti, you need to. The books are some of the best books I've ever read in my life.

An excellent point is raised, that I didn't quite catch. The goth's did turn preppy at the end of the movie. I think a light of time had passed, for Elisha was recovering well, but I think it was still a bit odd.

Crystal dies in the book. They let her live in the movie. Understandable, yes, but still quite a change.

It wasn't bad, I was surprised. As it seemed to be geared for kids in the first place though, it's hard to comment on the movie. Obviously I found it lacking in some areas, but some of that is probably the kids thing. Still, kinda neat. :)

Maybe they will make a movie for Nightmare Academy. If they do, it will be interesting. Peretti is my favorite author, and I hope that he writes more books in the Veritas Project series. If he does, I know that I'll read them.
