Matthew 5:4 says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” The Bible provides reasons that we would find comfort in. The Bible offers God’s Kingdom in Heaven for those who have faith in Him, including everything that faith in Him stands for. Psalms 23 is an expression of our allegiance in Him, that as long as we pursue righteousness through him we will dwell in His House forever. One of the comforts is knowing that if a loved one who passed away has similarly led a life of righteous pursuit, we will see them in Heaven as Jesus has promised we will see him, as provided for in passages such as John 14:1-4. I tell you that as Ezekiel 18:4 infers that the souls who don’t sin will be with the Lord, so our own souls would be in contact with them as well.
God originally promised mortality to us through Adam and Eve. Their original sin caused God to change His Plans, but Lord Jesus appeared to restore that promise to those who show themselves to strive to not be tempted by sin and to succeed in this endeavor, as alluded to in John 3:16-17.
So we have faith that when our time comes to depart the earth, we will see those in Heaven who have departed before us. And those of us who grieve at the loss of our loved ones can take heart that the loss, if it can be a loss, is temporary. In reality, while we are still on earth they exist in our memory, and when we continue to love and help others earnestly, as it says in 1 Peter 4:8, so God may judge us as righteous, we will see our loved ones again and for all time.
To those who lost their parents, their children, their wives, their husbands, other family members, dear friends, the promise of again seeing those they lost holds out to them.
