Hand in Hand--Free-will and predestination

I would like to read honest response to this. If I were to try to explain predestination and free will , I would use this analogy : Let's say I have a child who has a sweet-tooth. I know that if I put a carrot and a candy bar in front of him, he will choose the candy. Was it his choice? Because I fore-knew the choice he would make, does this mean I made the choice for him? Further, if I have many carrots and celery sticks in front of me and no candy or very little, and I have many many children, wouldn't seem to follow that I would call those children whom I foreknew would be grateful and accepting of my vegitables? Because I know my children so well, I KNOW the choices they will make; this does not mean they don't have free will. The Lord knows our thoughts before we do. Surely He will call to those sheep whom he foreknows will recognize His voice. Please respond with your thoughts.

I think you make a good point.

Unfortunately, the proponents of Predestination (Calvinists) will claim that only knowing that something is going to happen does not make one soverign.
Hence, God must actually have a hand/cause in everything that happens.
