  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I "see" (and taste, and feel, and smell) colors often in response to music and other stimuli. Without drugs, of course :p

It's called synesthesia, and is both interesting and very annoying. For example, when a family member was a child, his voice made me see a blinding white light and I couldn't stand being around him because I wouldn't be able to see when he talked. It made me really sad because he liked hanging out with me. When he got older his voice changed and that went away entirely, and I explained to him why I always acted weird. He finds it interesting and brings it up a lot!

That is crazy fascinating. Do you still experience that with him, or do the stimuli change over time?

After he got older and his voice got lower, I no longer experience it with him.

It's not something that happens with every sound or stimulation, but certain ones. Music makes it very pleasant and colorful. Harsh, or high pitched sounds make the white light. Babies and infants do it a lot, which is one reason I don't like being around them. That one family member is so far the only child that made it happen when he was older (from about three to ten).
