Why aren't you attending church?

We go to encourage others, to be instructed and rebuked by the preached word as well as to be encouraged by others.

Simple question, simple answer. I have sought Jesus about attending church ever since I came back to him in 2011, but honestly, I have in my life attended Episcopal, Southern Baptist, Pentecostal Holiness, Fundamentalist Baptist, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, and Roman Catholic churches--and I disagree with so much that is taught in all of those that I find my solace and comfort in being an unchurched Christian. The bottom line is that I am too polemic in my beliefs to submit to authority that I do not respect, and since there are no churches that I am aware of who see Christianity as I do, then I do not attend. I do not, though, forsake the gathering of myself with other Believers. That is a Christian mandate, and I follow it. One way is talking with other believers here, another is finding them where I live and work, and yet another is communing with my lovely and believing wife. I also commune with the saints and angels as well as, of course, with Jesus--goes without saying.

I didn't say you were required to celebrate any of those, my point was there are many things the Church does that aren't in the Scriptures but that doesn't make them wrong. It's one of these situations:

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
