  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This thread is for Halloween loveliness. Post anything Halloween related! If you want to share what you are dressing up as, post it. You need costume help, post it. If you want to talk about traumatic childhood experiences, don't post it. Want to talk about your favorite Halloween movies and/or traditions, post it.

I'll go first:

My church does a trunk or treat ever year. This year I'm dressing up as Chuck Norris in Walker Texas Ranger. I need some ideas on how to do the facial hair. I'm going to Good Will and Salvation Army to find the actual outfit. I was thinking of wearing primarily denim- shirt, pants and maybe a jean jacket and a cowboy hat of course. Any ideas, tips or suggestions?

Any of you plan on carving a pumpkin this year? That's one of my favorite things to do in October.

*disclaimer: this thread is not for you to post your disagreement of celebrating Halloween, dressing up for Halloween, watching scary movies or anything of the sort. If you post anything along those lines, I will report you for going off topic. Kthanksbye.

Brown face paint or a brown eyeliner might be good options for the beard. The eyeliner would probably give you more "texture", though - depending on how you use it to apply the beard. Unless you want it to be more authentic, then hit up a costume shop for a fake beard.

I'm not dressing up this year. I am taking the kiddos trick or treating, though. Not sure what the older kiddos will want as costumes - I suppose I should ask them. :eheh: Baby girl is going to be an angel.

We do carve pumpkins. I usually get small pumpkins for the kids to paint, then one large pumpkin to carve. Apparently, there is a pumpkin shortage around here, though - so I'm not sure what I will be able to get my hands on. Plus, we should hopefully be moving before Halloween, so I might have to postpone carving activities until after the move. But, the move might not happen until next month - so, we'll see.

I usually make all things pumpkin during October/November. Pumpkin pancakes, muffins, cupcakes, cheesecake. I typically decorate the house...but, again, the impending move put the nix on that this year.

We try to attend at least one Fall Festival, too. :)

I'm thinking of making warm apple cider this year for the kids to see if they like it.

I just found out we were invited to a Halloween party so if we go, I have no idea what I'd be yet. Last year we carved pumpkins, watched movies, made Halloween cookies, let the puppy play with his own mini pumpkin, and dressed up as Star Wars characters.

My son's Boy Scout troop was going to have a party but they canceled it. They used to have trick or treating at the local strip mall, but I haven't seen any signs for it this year so I don't know what we'll do if they don't have it.

I will definitely be carving some pumpkins though and setting them out in the yard for decorations and handing out candy to any kids that come by.

It depends for me. One year, I traced the kiddos' feet and turned them "upside down" and made ghosts on the pumpkin. That was my favoritest pumpkin ever! :D

These pumpkins are awesome! :satisfied:

I have a pumpkin but havent carved him (or her?) yet. I usually just do the regular triangle eyes/nose and practically toothless grin. I do think I'd be able to carve it better if I had an outline. Might try that one year.

I'm tempted to get a dozen or so little pumpkins, use red dress pins for eyes, carve out their mouths and then place those cheap fake vampire teeth places cell inside. Then they could just be lined them up along the windowsill, maybe with a motion activated device of some kind that can cackle whenever people walk past, have the bat fairy lights hung all around to provide some atmosphere, and there, halloween participation complete. That or set up the snowman, not a lot is creepier than expecting halloween decorations and being ambushed by a snowman singing christmas songs.
