CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, my first thought is Who's Hal Lindsey? My second thought is Why don't I know who Hal Lindsey is. My third thought is I wonder if he's related to Dennis Lindsey. My fourth thought is Nope, I've heard the name before. My last thought is I hear my son talking and he should be in bed. I wonder if Hal had any kids.

I sat in Dennis Lindsey class at christ for the nations many years ago when guess who came to speak. That's right Hal, small world.

He the son of Gorden Lindsey the founder of Christ for the nations in dallas tx. . His Father goes back to the outpouring of the early 1900. Has a lot of books on many bible subject.

Not much. He was one of the guys who intimated we'd be lucky to reach the year 2000. Well it's 2004 baby, and we'll be here a little longer yet while the church gets its act together!

And of all the things Gordon Lindey did, why someone would post something like that is beyond me. I don't agree with all of his teachings, but he loved God and did a lot of amazing things. He started Christ for the Nations in Dallas, ministered to the unsaved, had miracles happen. Many have gone into the world out of that ministry. He was an amazing guy.

"The Late Great Planet Earth" was one of the books that drew me to Christ back in 1971...
I have since departed from some of his interpretation of end time events, but I believe he carries the gospel message to many.

(I plan to attend CFNI in August)
I only read some of Hal Lindsey's work and that was about 7 years ago, so I don't remember a lot. I don't really have an opinion and I've heard both good things and bad things about him.

Anyways, I was referring to Hal, and NOT Gordon. The OP is 'what do you think of Hal Lindsey?'
While some have said great things about him - and I 'grew up' with Late Great Planet Earth, and the 'original' Left Behind' series back in the 70's, we still have oil, overpopulation of the earth has not caused catastrophic events, the Soviet Union no longer exists, etc etc. All I'm saying is, yes we need to be good stewards of the earth until Jesus returns, but he will return in his time, when the 'fullness of time' comes. In the meantime, we the church needs to be manifesting the kingdom of God in our lives and in our world at large.

Sorry Andry--Someone asked what post said something bad about Hal--I assumed SVT4Him was talking about post 7.

I read one of his books years ago about the end of the earth. Basically a commentary on the Book of Revelations. I thought it was a good read and I learned alot. I would like to find another book of hids to read.

I remember a few years ago, I was in Israel--at the Holiday Inn in Jerusalem and there was a big banner on the building that said "welcome Hal Lindsay--I remember it mispelled his name, I can't remember how it was mispelled, but it was mispelled. In the hotel's gift shop, I ran into another well known prophecy oriented teacher and some men who were with him. I won't say who that well known teacher was, but I was really excited to meet that teacher, but instead was treated as if I a loose woman or something. It really was a bummer. The people with that well known teacher asked me if I was with Hal Lindsay's tour group(I wasn't, I was with a different group), but it really bummed me out to see what happened--I was looked down on as less as and they had a rival competition like attitude with Hal Lindsay. I usually enjoy watching Hal Lindsay's program on tbn(one of the few programs I'll watch on tbn), though it's been awhile since I've read his books and I may have different angles on prophecy than Hal.
