I was thinking about sin, and Christ, being the light. I am a science teacher and was teaching my eighth graders about how there is no such thing as cold, it is the absence of heat and no such thing as dark, it is the absence of light. While I was telling them I was thinking about God and people who are lost as opposed to people who are saved, and thinking about Hell and how it is called the "outer darkness" in the Bible- a place where God's light and warmth won't ever penetrate. I was thinking of Hell as the absence of God. I teach in a public school, so of course did not say all of this- but was thinking it at the time. I think God has something to communicate in everything, even His laws of physics.

I love the phoenix, too. It's a symbol with a lot of significance to me. Resurrection, recovering what was lost.
