Most of the time you get the CD - stick it in - install it - and play it!

If you are really having a problem with the installation, ask me.

You guys dont get the point!!
Its not that the installation won't work, the problem is actually running the game. I try to run it and a message comes up saying Half Life not validated and therefore I can't play it. Even before it gets to the start page a message comes up saying Half Life has COMPATIBILITY ISSUES with XP.

In other words half life and XP don't like each other. What to do????

Its not that the installation won't work, the problem is actually running the game. I try to run it and a message comes up saying Half Life not validated and therefore I can't play it. Even before it gets to the start page a message comes up saying Half Life has COMPATIBILITY ISSUES with XP.

In other words half life and XP don't like each other. What to do????

did u have to configure the game first though? i tried configuring it to win 98 and win 95 so that system adapts to the game's ancient operating system but i still have no luck!!

I think it has something to do with your security settings. Some types of antivirus software don't allow you to run .exe files.. Not sure if that's what's wrong though..

well i do have virus enterprise running. perhaps i can try disabling it before i try to run the game again. maybe that will work.

Maybe try downloading the latest halflife update.

I have half life on XP no trouble...playing "blue Shift" as a the security guard at moment

Nope, didn't do a thing. Just put my ancient used HL CD into the drive and installed it.

Hey, I just thought of something, are you entering that number code thing corectly? If you don't know what I am talking about, there should be a number printed on a sticker on the CD case that you have to input either during installation or just before you play (can't remember which).

currently, i'm finding the much newer shoot em up game called hidden and dangerous to be much more interesting. The premise is much more clearer than half life. H L is too engrossed in mystery and puzzles, whereas hidden and dangerous is still good old shoot em up but the game play is in theory much easier. Any one's opinion on hidden and dangerous is more than welcome.

I find that some disks (in my case my old "Bladerunner" game wont load on newer systems...dont know why

You need to download the latest updates. Then it will work.
