  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I happen to like a guy. He's in a fairly popular band. There are a few people who think he likes me, too. However, I'm not certain about this. It could just be a really great friendship. He and I don't live in the same area of the country. The only time I get to see him is at concerts or events where I happen to be and they happen to be as well. I do have his cell phone number, but this is from organizing concerts and interviews earlier this year. That's the only reason I have it. I wouldn't have it otherwise.

* My friend and I were talking to one of his friends back in early February and he came over and said that he was breaking up with a lady, and we heard this loud and clear. We don't know if he knew that I liked him at that time or not.
* I took a picture with him at this time and people tell me it's the biggest smile they've ever seen on hs face (it's definitely the biggest smile I've ever seen on his face).
* I saw him again late February, we hugged, he was always ready for a hug. . .and I left a poem letting him know that I had feelings for him, but that I wanted God's will to be done more than anything. I think he's read the poem, but I can never be certain.
* I saw him again this month, and when I hugged him while taking a picture and rubbed his back, he rubbed mine too.
* I know that all of this could just be a good friendship and I'm not overestimating that. In fact, I'm sticking with that and not getting my hopes up at all.
* One of the odd details: He's 18 years my elder.
* Yet, I've never cared about age. I've always felt that if you're a legal adult, there's nothing wrong with the person you love.
* Does a guy like it if you just call him and say that you like him?
* Is it better to just not say anything and let it run its course?
* I don't know when I'll see him again.
* I want him to be happy. I don't want to seem like I'm intruding on his life.

What do you guys think? What would you want done in a situation like this?

Thanks and Stein Auf!

I would like it if a girl I liked told me she liked me. There's nothing wrong with that. I would probably prefer it if it was in person though. You already told him how you feel in your poem so he already knows how you feel unless he lost your poem, so I'm not sure what's the point of calling to tell him.

As far as I know, he read the poem. I can't be certain. I don't know when I'll see him in person again.

It really depends on your character as well as where you stand on your reputation and faith. Poems are also a way of expressing things out in the open indeed.
