Gunslinger Girl

I recently watched the first five episodes of Gunslinger Girl and was completely floored. I was immediately stuck by the deep characters and sublime visuals. There has to be more anime of this quality out there, right? I find the animation style fascinating and so I'm looking for more high quality anime & manga. (though in truth I don't know the difference between the two) I've seen several names that looked interesting, such as; Noir, Appleseed, and Vampire Hunter D, does anyone know anything about them?

I ve seen Appleseed. It's good, but personally I didn't think it was the best I've seen. However I recently bought the first volume of Gunslinger Girl, I think the art is so unique and beautiful I really like it.

Well, I have since my last post been watching quite a lot of anime, most notablely Berserk, Last Exile, Serial Experiments Lain, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. And of course, more of Gunslinger Girl.
