Guidance needed

Can someone offer me some quidance about listening to God?
How do I know if God is speaking to me?
Should I go along with my gut feelings?
How can I now whether thougths are my own or Gods?

I would be grateful to hear other peoples experiences and answers to my questions.

What made a huge difference for me is getting into the word consistently and trying to read it every day. Aside from that, I think this is a learning process that no one can teach you.
Focus on the relationship. I guess the more you know God, the more you will know his voice.

While I may not be the most qualified to give you an answer, I'll tell you what I do and that's this...

1) Prayer...I feel like this is one of the most important things you can do. One of the best ways to find out what God thinks about something is to ask him point blank. Also, by asking God, we allow him to move in our lives.

2) Getting in God's Word...Although I wouldn't put it past God to give you an immediate answer after you pray, it is good to get in the Bible and read the scriptures that pertain to what you may be dealing with at the time. You can use a Concordance, as most Bibles have them, to find out particular passages that will be of help.

I ditto the responses above. God sometimes can speak to your heart out of the blue. I can name a few times that He did. How did I know it was God, I just did. (Once I wasn't going to go to a Women's Retreat. I had selfish reasons why not. This new woman in our church came up and said, Hey Reeann, your going aren't you. I definitely felt the Spirit moving and telling me YES..you are, even when I had not planned too go. So I said yes, and I was not only blessed by a message during that retreat that I needed tremendously, but that woman accept Jesus as her Savior and I was there for it!!)

Mostly though, God speaks to me through His word, prayer, and other Christians, affirming what the Holy Spirit has taught me in His word.

Have you ever heard an audible voice?

I know I did once when I was seeking what to do in a relationship... all His voice said was "Just love her." That simple message can say so much... I don't remember a time where I knew for sure I heard His audible voice since...

I wouldn't really know where to guide you in this other than what's already said because I am currently searching out the same thing... Have a great day!

good advices in the previous responses. Prayers and reading God's words are absolutely essential. As you get to understand and know God more, you'll be able to distinguish what is and what is not from Him. That helps tremendously when you're looking for God's answers in your life.

hey the thoughta above are great but GOD will talk to everyone in their own way. Where one hears the other may not.
the good thing is that GOD knows us and knows how to talk to us so we do hear when HE speaks!
my advice is to just pray and seek GOD's face and when the time is right [GOD's time] HE will speak to you!

Prayer is important. remember that - talk to Him like anyone else. He is a gentleman, He will come to u if u ask Him.  Thank Him for all you have , just a common courtesy.  I was told He is your conscience   LISTEN...

I was spoken to once (that i have heard) and i felt immediate peace. Most recently i was shown a vision that was accompanied by a physical internal "pull" - it was pulling me toward what i was being shown.

We are spoken to in ways we will understand. just be aware of what is going on around u. hehe.. i wont even have the radio on in my car anymore.. i talk to Him and pray during that time, and if He replies i dont want anything preventing me from hearing it
