In the past when I have been applying for jobs I sometimes pray that if it be God's will he would "open the door" and if not he would keep it shut. This is the only way I know to pray about guidance and I am beginning to think God doesn't mind what jobs I apply for as long as it is within his moral will - if he doesn't want me in a particular job, I'll not hear back from them when I write, or someone else will get the job.
I ask because I am thinking about looking for some voluntary work and have some ideas of a company to get in touch with as I worked with them before.
My health isn't great and I currently take a couple of medications - I also have house-keeping responsibilities for an elderly mother, but I would like to get some suitable work part time if possible.
Beloved one, consider this is what we have heard:
“Let him who stole steal no longer,
but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”
Ephesians 4:28 NKJV
Beloved one, I know that you didn’t steal but for those who have stolen, that they no longer steal but to labor,
working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
So what holy apostles commended that we labor,
working with our hands what is good, that we may have something to give him who has need.
So beloved one, what you have considered working part time and taking care of elderly mother who has need is commendable.
So there is no need to pray for God’s will to open the door — what holy apostles have already commended to labor, working with our hands. Do so and serve those who may have need like your elderly mother.
For we also heard:
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
II Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
For this pray or say in faith and believe that you receive :
And God is able to make all grace abound toward me, that I, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. Amen
So beloved one, what we should be concerned how we may have abundance of good work, that bring delights to Christ and the Father and glory God in the Spirit of truth.
Beloved one, you have considered right that God doesn’t mind what you labor or what job you get. We just have to remember what apostle Paul have beseeched us according to the mercies of God.
“I
beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, that you
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that
good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
So beloved one, what we should be concerned about is that we be transformed by renewing of our minds with the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.
So beloved one, consider Hosea chapter 14, then consider carefully Hosea 14:3.
And meditate the wisdom found in Proverbs 16:3 and Colossians 3:23-24 and Psalms 90:17.
And your thoughts will be established in Christ.
May God’s grace be with you. To God be thanksgiving through Christ. Amen.
