  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi. I'm a 33 year old guy who has taken on joint guardianship with my wife of her 7 year old biological nephew. He has ADHD and 7 years of growing up in a chaotic household with his mom and grandparents. Is it appropriate for me to join in on this forum? If not, where else on CF do you suggest I go for discussing parenting issues?

My wife is a Master's level mental health clinician for children, so I pull on her knowledge a lot. Also, she's helped to raise him from day one, so she combines the two and is a pretty good resource for me. But she still says on a regular basis that it seems everything she knows goes out the window when it comes to raising your own loved one.

Thanks for the referral. I'm looking at the CHADD site right now. Looks like a really good resource.

Welcome! :wave: I have ADHD, but I can't help much. I never researched it, so what I generally tend to think of as my personality are actually parts of this "disorder". Never bothered me, still doesn't bother me. Hey! Look at the puppy...Oh, sorry. :blush: ;)
