So we are having my in laws over tonight for dinner and it has just become such a stupid big deal and expesive one at that. Somewhere along the line it became this big huge deal WITH STEAKS!!! We're feeding six people steaks. We are poor and can't afford this. GRRRRR. I am so mad that I don't even want to go home. I'm am burning, I am so mad. To top it off the house is a mess. I cleaned almost everything this weekend and now he's out not doing ****. Grr grr grr.
I just needed to vent.

I know that it can be so frustrating, dealing with family. I guess it would be even more so when someone feels that they have something to prove or to impress someone. *hugs*

Been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt.

Can you make it a potluck? You provide the meat and beverage, and everyone can bring a side. Won't save a ton of money, but every little bit counts. I've used that compromise quite successfully in the past.

Which would have been fine but the hubband got all psycho about it. Grr.grr.grr. I could have esily fed ALL of us for like $20 no problem. We wouldn't let his g-ma bring anything becuse we also decided we would also celebrate our birthdays tonight and I don't want her to bring anything for her own birthday. His parents ARE bringing cake and ice cream (I assume so anyway!). And if they don't bring it we won't have it.

It's all over and it didn't kill me. I couldn't change the plans last night becuase Graig had already committed to them coming over and getting fed. I understand more. He didn't really communicate with me well. His intent was to make up for some special occassions we'd missed. So I'm a little less mad now.

Yeah. I just got all control freaky and wouldn't let hiom do ANYTHING. Then I didn't have to talk to them much. And when i did I tried to keep it to convos with his Grandma.
