Our whole church is covering exactly this topic at the moment. Our pastor suggested lots of ways we can 'go deeper'.

1. Pray more earnestly. You don't have to be on your knees crying, but be real and honest with God. He's not interested in flowery language, etc. And get people to pray for you.

2. Get involved in serving. Serve at your church. It could be something as simple as making tea and coffee after the service. By serving your church you're serving God and he will bless you in that.

3. Step out in faith. Some of those big issues you've been praying about - now's the time to step out. Make sure you tell God that's what you're doing, and ask him to shut doors you shouldn't enter.

4. Worship more. Sing all day. Ask God to put a song on your heart each morning. It feels great!

5. Experiment with your gifts. What are yours? healing, discernment, visions, pictures, words or knowledge? Don't even know? Well now's the time to practice. Pray more for people and write down every time you think you hear from God. Be brave and speak out if you think you have something for someone.

6. Receive more of the holy spirit. Similar point to above really, but really seek God on this. Ask him if there are obstructions in your life or things you need to repent of that are stopping you from getting closer to God. Ask him to convict you, and then with the help of God and a mature christian work through those issues.

Sorry to go on so long. I hope this helps.

Hello,
This is a very fundamental question, and a very important one. In my opinion the very best thing for you to do is go out into the world and serve others. Find a soup kitchen or homeless shelter to volunteer at..it really doesn't matter what you do as long as your faith starts to touch your feet. Doing good works is one of the most important things we can do as Christians. We are letting Christ perform His work through us, so in this way we begin to have a much deeper communion with our Lord. For some better insight on this read James in the NT..he talks mostly about why we are called as bond servants of Jesus Christ to take action.

oh oh oh - I have an addition to this...

If you think you got something ,write it down like JulesM said. If you get something about someone, maybe a word of encouragement or prophesy, dont be afraid to tell them - because God told me he would bless me even if it were not from God. Just trust him, and have faith - you gotta exit your comfort zone doing these things, and it really seems odd. But afterwards, the feeling is worth it. I hope this helps

1 Peter 2:2-3 Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.

2 Peter 3:18 Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

1 Timothy 4:15 Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.

2 Peter 1:5-8 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 3:14-19 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Colossians 1:9-11 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

2 Corinthians 3:16 We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Psalm 92:12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Philippians 1:6, 9, 10 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.

Ephesians 4:14-15 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.
