In a lot of urban areas, flat roof space or balconies are being used a lot to grow things.

I have a tiny 2 1/2 acres, past years we raised about 75% of the food we ate along with supplementing 13-25 families weekly food purchases all summer so saving space is a must.

I think I'm going to try doing this. I "accidentally" grew sweet potatoes when I was little, so potatoes are pretty easy to grow.
