Group Bible Study thread

Its always productive to study the Bible in a group and share insights, so people who subscribe to this thread could all study the same passage of Scripture and post any ideas. I'm open to suggestions about what part to study. Please post if you think this is a good idea!

On the suface this seems like a good idea. But...with so many theological backgrounds, do you think it will be beneficial? As much as I would like to see it succeed, I see it generating more heat than light.

If there are some good ground rules, it could work.

I agree with the value of group studies. It's just that I don't think it would work very well on a forum setting.

Bible Studies require some tools ....
1 understanding of Hermeneutics ... bible rules ... type of language, historical perspective , context , audience, literal meaning at time spoken , meaning for the church here and now ...

2. a good bible concordance or on line bible search engine www.blueletterbible.com or www.biblegateway.com or one at www.ewtn.org

3. some understanding of the bible as a whole , genesis to revelation

4. a willing open heart to love people and use things ; to respect all christian brothers , even if you disagree with their interpretation of scripture

5. a willingness to submit to God and His word ... to change , do some things different , or better
