  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I used to have a lot more time on my hands to do google searches, but that all changed recently. I would appreciate it if someone could post a good link to a site which may help me with some ideas.

I have a very serious ground water issue. My lot is water logged, killing my lawn, garden and trees, and the basement gets standing water whenever it rains now (my wife and I just bought this money pit). I am looking for some advice on how to construct a good surfacewater runoff system as well as a groundwater drain system.

Thanks for your help!!

Can't post addys yet. Can make some recommendations...
First, if the property is flat consider french drains around the house. We don't want water troubles there. Dig down about 2 feet - sloping down to join the drains from your gutters. You'll need to determine how far under ground your gutter drains join the city or septic runoff lines.

Use french drains along any slope that drains to your property.

Consider using gypsum pellets like ClaySoft to loosen the soil. Also, plantings like shrubs can soak up a lot of water. I imagine you'll need a mix of all three to protect your property.

Hope I helped.
